Royal Hospital School
A leading co-educational boarding and day school in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside overlooking the River Stour. Our students get to experience its proud maritime heritage, world-class sailing, and a full boarding culture three centuries in the making.
Three centuries of heritage, on 200 acres above the Stour.
Royal Hospital School is a co-educational boarding and day school for 11–18 year-olds set in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside overlooking the River Stour estuary , about an hour from London by train. It's one of the schools on our flagship UK immersion, combining grand architecture with a genuinely modern, outward-looking education.
The headline strengths are its full-boarding culture — one of the most established in the country , world-class sailing, outdoor education, and a music programme anchored by its chapel choir.
Heritage
Founded in Greenwich in 1712 to educate the children of seafarers, the school moved to its purpose-built Suffolk campus at Holbrook in 1933. Its maritime story is lived, not just remembered , from the ceremonial Divisions parade to sailing on the doorstep , the exact backdrop our Indian students step into during their immersion here.
Small facts, but ones worth knowing before your child arrives.
Large enough for exceptional facilities and breadth; structured so every student is known within their house.
