Programme overview

Observe British practice. Take back a plan.

The Senior Leadership Programme offers school leaders the chance to observe best practice in pedagogy and pastoral care at first hand, and to build lasting connections with leading UK independent schools.

Organised by the Inspired Learning Group (ILG) — a network of over 30 schools and nurseries across the UK — the tour blends academic insight with cultural immersion. Delegates visit institutions such as Clayesmore School and St Francis’ College, where they interact with school leadership teams, observe live classrooms, and explore how British schools integrate tradition with forward-thinking learning models.

Across these settings the emphasis is not sightseeing but meaningful dialogue, strategic reflection and idea exchange — so that every participant returns with insights that inspire action back home.

What the tour includes

    Welcome & orientation

Met on arrival, transfer to accommodation, and an opening briefing that sets the questions each delegate wants answered by the end of the week.

  2. 02Observe

Timetabled observation across key stages — teaching practice, questioning, differentiation and the rhythm of a British school day.

  3. 03Dialogue

Structured conversations with heads, deputies and heads of pastoral care on governance, staff development, admissions and school improvement.

  4. 04Pastoral

  5. 05Exchange

    Idea exchange & strategic reflection

Facilitated peer sessions where delegates translate what they have seen into concrete actions for their own school.

  6. 06Culture

    Cultural immersion

Guided visits to historic university cities and cultural landmarks — context for the education system delegates have spent the week inside.
