Who this is for

This Code applies to every student, staff member, chaperone, host-school employee and supplier involved in an Aspirational Editech programme. It is read and signed by every student and parent before departure.

The Code is grounded in three principles: safety, respect, and responsibility. It is short on purpose. We expect everyone to use good judgement; this document explains what good judgement looks like in our context.

Safety comes first, always

• Students must remain with the group and within the agreed locations at all times.
• Students follow the daily timetable. Any change requires the named coordinator's approval.
• Curfew is observed every evening. Doors are checked by pastoral staff.
• Medication is held by pastoral staff and dispensed on schedule, unless a doctor's note states otherwise.
• Activities in water, at height, or involving any equipment are supervised by certified instructors.
• Staff and chaperones complete DBS / police-clearance checks and safeguarding training every 12 months.

Respect for people and place

We are guests on each campus. The campus is, in turn, our home for the fortnight.

• Treat every student, staff member and host as you would want to be treated.
• Discrimination of any form — on grounds of race, religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, disability or background — will not be tolerated. Decisions on serious breaches are made by the Head of Pastoral within hours.
• Bullying, intimidation, or any abuse including online and indirect, is unacceptable.
• Respect the buildings, grounds and shared spaces. Damage is repaired at the responsible party's cost.
• Quiet hours are observed for the benefit of everyone in the boarding house.

Honesty and academic integrity

• Submit your own work. Cite sources clearly in academic projects.
• Be honest with staff if you are unwell, struggling, homesick, or in any difficulty — that is how we help.
• Report any safeguarding concern to a chaperone or the named coordinator. Concerns can also be raised confidentially to safeguarding@aspiedtech.com.

Phones, devices and the internet

• Phones are permitted during free time and for scheduled calls home. They are not permitted in lessons, sports or excursions unless required.
• Use of social media is allowed within reason; we ask students to be considerate of others appearing in photos and to seek permission.
• Devices that disrupt sleep or learning may be held by pastoral staff for the night.
• Any sharing of private content, harassment online, or impersonation will be treated as a serious breach of this Code.

No-go list

The following are not permitted on any an Aspirational Editech programme, regardless of local law. A breach typically results in the student being sent home at the family's cost:

• Alcohol, tobacco, vapes, drugs, or any controlled substance
• Weapons or anything used as such
• Leaving the campus unaccompanied without permission
• Romantic or sexual contact with other students or staff
• Theft, vandalism, or any criminal activity

If something goes wrong

Most issues are dealt with quickly and quietly between the student, the chaperone and the named coordinator. For serious breaches, our process is:

1. A factual record is created, and the family is informed within hours.
2. The Head of Pastoral reviews the situation with the host-school safeguarding lead.
3. An outcome is agreed — ranging from a warning, to a withdrawal from a specific activity, to the student being sent home.
4. The family receives a written summary at the end.

Our obligations to you

Staff hold themselves to the same Code. We commit to:

• Listening to students respectfully and confidentially.
• Being available 24/7 for emergencies.
• Communicating clearly with families — daily during the programme.
• Acting on safeguarding concerns swiftly and transparently.

Signing this Code

Every student and parent signs an acknowledgement of this Code as part of the application. We ask that you read it together. If anything is unclear, the named coordinator is available before, during and after the programme.
